Thank you PIGS!
Dear editor:
The "Brothers Pig" are a self-named group of NHS boys who support and cheer loudly for our NHS volleyball team. Their enthusiasm, loyalty and creativity are above reproach. The Pigs have attended every home game in large numbers, and even though their numbers are few at away games, they roar with spirit.
If you were at the volleyball games you saw the giant cardboard aces they held up when the girls scored an ace. When no one was there to sing the national anthem the Pigs volunteered, under the leadership of Dan Lovinger. The pigs have black shirts with the girls' names on the backs to make their support personal. Maybe you were there the night they all dressed in suits and ties to cheer the girls as they "got down to business."
Or, you laughed with the rest of the fans as they appeared dressed as truckers, in their flannel shirts, jeans and boots. Has Nevada ever had a united cheering group who all wore matching jerseys one night?
Wednesday night, at Harrisonville, while the loyal pigs roared approval, NHS volleyball varsity won the right to go on to the sectional competition by beating Holden. Of course we will be there Saturday to scream and cheer.
What carried this group of girls all the way to the sectional competition? We firmly believe it was the athletic talent of the players and the loyal support of the pigs!
