Lady Tigers fall to Carl Junction
While the Nevada Tigers girls varsity were defeated by Carl Junction last night it was not for lack of effort. Nevada found themselves trailing at the end of the first quarter 14-11, but rallied a 14 - 5 point period making the score at the half 25-19, Tigers.
Assisting in this comeback was Jordan Bell, No. 23, who went 5 for 6 at the free throw line and Kadee Hughes who sank 2 threes in the second quarter.
Carl Junction swept the third quarter putting up 18 points against the Tigers 6 leaving the board 37 - 31, CJ.
Nevada finished strong putting up 12 points in the fourth but was unable to close the gap with CJ scoring 14 and ending the game 51-43, CJ.
girls varsity coach, Brent Bartlett said, "Our goal was to be better than what we were the last game we played and we were. Too many turnovers in the second half allowed CJ to come back and win."
Lindsey Rice led the team offensively with 14 points and 4 of 5 from the line, followed by Kadee Hughes with 11 shooting 2 of 2 free throws, Heather Thomas with 8, and Jordan Bell and Jordan Webb both with 5 points for the game.
This loss leaves the Tigers with a 2-3 record for the season, but they look to improve on that record against Monett tomorrow night at Nevada.
