Bhutto interview in today's Parade

Saturday, January 5, 2008

The news of former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto's assassination rocked the world on Dec. 27. Although saddened by the loss to the world, publishers of Parade magazine feel that this week's cover story featuring Bhutto is even more relevant than before.

In November, Gail Sheehy traveled with former Prime Minister Bhutto in Pakistan and conducted two long interviews with her. Bhutto told Sheehy "I am what the terrorists most fear, a female political leader fighting to bring modernity to Pakistan. Now they're trying to kill me."

The story sheds new light on the chaotic situation in Pakistan; for more, see the article in Parade, inserted in today's edition of the Herald Tribune.
