Fort Scott, Kan. --Working adults who are interested in pursuing a post-secondary degree or continuing their education will be able to learn more information about possible classes coming to Fort Scott during a series of two informational meetings scheduled later this month.

Representatives of Baker University, a United Methodist college that has been in existence since 1858, will present two sessions at Fort Scott Community College that are designed to inform people who are interested in participating soon in an accelerated degree program.

The sessions will take place from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, and Tuesday, Jan. 29, in room A132 inside the FSCC Academic Building, 2108 S. Horton St.

Baker University, the first university in Kansas, currently serves 3,000 students through its College of Arts and Sciences on the university's main campus in Baldwin City; the School of Professional and Graduate Studies in Lawrence, Overland Park, Topeka, Wichita, and Lee's Summit, Mo.; and a School of Nursing in Topeka. The college is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year, university officials said.

According to the university's Web site, www.bakeru.edu, the school offers a number of associate through masters degree programs.

Representatives of the university's School of Professional and Graduate Studies will be on hand at FSCC on the above dates to provide information about several educational degree programs the institution offers, including an associate of arts in business program; a bachelor of business administration program, and a master of business administration program, officials said.

Attendees will also be able to learn about online courses in a variety of study areas the university now offers, as well as possible evening classes that working adults would have the option to enroll in at FSCC in the near future, a Baker University statement said.
