New semester at Crowder begins soon

Friday, January 11, 2008

Enrollment in spring classes is continuing at the Nevada Campus of Crowder College. Classes start on Jan. 14, but campus director Donna Thomas said enrollment is allowed through the first week of classes. While several classes have already reached maximum enrollment, many classes are still available.

The Nevada campus has added several new business classes which will help students achieve Associate of Applied Science degrees in business management and office administration and basic classes for medical office assistants.

The Moss Center, located at 600 West Edwards Place, offers full Associate of Arts degrees in many majors and has convenient day, evening, and night classes, Thomas noted. Students can take one class or carry full-time status enrollment. The Nevada campus staff offers free assistance in applying for financial aid, completing admission's processes, and placement testing.

"In addition to adding new business classes for spring, we're offering Technical Report Writing," said Thomas. "This is a course that some employers have asked us to offer to help their employees with their writing responsibilities. It will cover research, presentation, reports, news-letters, memos and other practical applications. The course requires students to have completed College English or test into it with permission of the instructor. We're excited to be able to offer it again and to help meet local employers' needs."

Prior to the start of classes on Jan. 14, the Nevada campus is open to assist students in all areas of enrollment and financial aid.

They are open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and appointments may be made by calling (417) 667-0518.

Application for the next Registered Nursing program, starting in August 2008, will be available Feb. 1, and will be accepted until April 1.
