Middle school boys sweep Joplin South
The Nevada seventh and eighth grade boys basketball teams swept all four games with the Joplin South Middle School boys Thursday night at the Nevada Middle School gymnasium.
The Nevada seventh grade A-team beat Joplin South 44-39 while the Nevada B-team dominated Joplin south 26-6 in a game shortened with a running clock for the entire game.
Nevada's Morgan Hold led the A-team with 21 points, followed by Sam Jones with 12 points, Sam Ellifrits with six points, Nathan Colopy with four points and Lucas Denman with one point.
Nevada's eighth grade A-team easily beat the Joplin South A-team 43-20 and Nevada's B-team also won 23-7 in a game shortened with a running clock.
Kyle Banes led Nevada's A-team with 23 points, followed by Joe Ferry with seven points, Cory Kerbs with six points, Andrew Bryson with three points, Eric Leavell with two points and Ryan Chandler with one points.
The Nevada seventh and eighth grade boys' teams will host the Joplin North Middle School boys at 5 p.m., Monday Jan. 14 in the Nevada Middle School gymnasium.
