Hume earns victory at Lakeland Tournament

At the Lakeland Tournament, Clinton Irwin led Hume with 20 points and hit the game-winning shot at the buzzer to propel the Hornets to a 48-46 win Saturday over host Lakeland in the consolation finals.

Hume (8-2, 3-0) trailed by eight points with 1:30 to play, but scored 14 points in the final minute-and-a-half to rally for the win.

Cody Franklin and Ryan Austin each hit two 3-pointers for the Hornets in the stretch run before Irwin's buzzer-beater.

Austin finished with eight points and four assists, and Andy Yarick chipped in with seven points and six rebounds. Cameron Hinton had a team-high three steals, and Irwin also grabbed eight rebounds.

Ely Murray led Lakeland with 20 points.
