Jolley leaving Nevada to take AD, coaching positions at Eldon
NEVADA, Mo. -- Shannon Jolley has officially announced his plans to leave his position as head football coach at Nevada High School after just one season coaching the Tigers.
Jolley has decided to move to a position with Eldon, Mo. Schools as Athletics Director and Head Coach.
Nevada R-5 Superintendent Craig Noah explained that they sad to see him leave but are behind him in his decision.
The Eldon school board also approved the hiring of Jolley as the athletic director for the high school, Eldon Superintendent C.J. Huff said, during an Eldon school board meeting on Tuesday.
Jolley will serve the position part-time, with the rest of his time split as the A+ coordinator and the high school's head football coach.
"We're really excited," Huff said.
The Lake-Sun Leader reported that Jolley was the head football coach at School of the Osage for five years, starting in 2001. He turned the program around, taking the Indians from 1-19 in his first two seasons to three consecutive winning seasons and back-to-back district titles. In 2005, he accepted a position in Jefferson City as a special teams coordinator and running backs coach.
In Nevada, Jolley made a big impression in the community, boosting the football program in Nevada by a large margin, recruiting more than 80 participants this year.
"He's remembered for doing great things for School of the Osage's program," Huff said.
Nevada was 2-8 in Jolley's only season.
