Ruby Allene Fletcher
Ruby Allene Fletcher, 79, of Rich Hill, passed away on Monday, Feb. 25, 2008, at her home. She was born on March 9, 1928, in Carlisle County, Ky., to Johnny Britton Tankersley and Dola Lee Simmons Tankersley. She married Harry W. Fletcher on Jan. 9, 1945, in Paducha, Ky. He preceded her in death in 1986.
Ruby grew up in Carlisle County, Ky. She and her husband came to Vernon County in 1945. Ruby and her husband also lived in Derby, Kan., for a number of years while he was employed by Boeing. She and her husband returned to the area in 1979, residing in Rich Hill ever since. Ruby was a homemaker. She was a member of the first Christian Church, in Rich Hill.
Survivors include one daughter, Eva Jilek and her husband Larry, of Rich Hill; three grandchildren, David Jackson and his wife Annette, of Butler, Doug Jackson and his wife Wendy, of Nixa, Mo., Denita Miller and her husband Mike, of Nixa, Mo.; five great-grandchildren, Doug Jackson, and his wife Cheri, Ashley Sutcliffe and Ryan, Amanda Jackson, Daniel Guier and Jordan Jackson; two great-great-grandchildren, Hunter Jackson and Alyssa Grabill; three step-great-grandchildren, Montana Garrett, Shelby Jilek, Morgan Jilek, and Taylor Jilek; several nieces and nephews; and special caregivers Melonie and Kelly. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Herschel Tankersley and Julian Tankersley, and one sister, Lucille Ashbrook.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., on Thursday, Feb. 28, at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada, with pastor Michael McKinney officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park, Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.
