Alice Merle King

The Lord has taken Alice Merle King of Nevada, on Feb. 26, 2008, while she was living at the Pikes Peak Care Center, in Colorado Springs, Colo. She was a longtime resident of Nevada, and returned to her birth home to be closer to her family in 1991.

Alice M. McReynolds King was born April 16, 1919, in Nevada. Her parents were Roy and Mary Beatrix Hopper McReynolds, of Nevada. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Wilber F. King, from Springfield, Mo., and Alice's oldest brother Walter McReynolds, also from Nevada. She is survived by her twin sister Inez Bobbett and younger brother Roy Burt McReynolds, both of Nevada, along with her only daughter Mary Kathryn King Bowden, of Colorado Springs, Colo.

Alice King is also survived by two grandsons, Brian Bowden, of Fort Collins, Colo., and Air Force captain Jason Bowden, of Spokane, Wash., and five great-grandchildren, Brianna Bowden, of Fort Collins, Colo., Alexander, Nicholas, Jackson, and Cooper Bowden, of Spokane, Wash.

Alice King worked for more than 30 years as the supervisor of the packaging and folding department of the Container Corporation, in Fort Worth, Texas. She worked until her retirement at age 62 in 1982. Alice was also actively involved as the union's recording secretary.

Alice was a faithful member of the Mountain View Church of Christ, in Colorado Springs, Colo., and the Elm Street Church of Christ, in Nevada.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, at 1 p.m., March 1, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada. Alice's son-in-law, Ralph Bowden, will officiate at both the funeral and a graveside service which will be held immediately following the funeral service at Newton Burial Park, in Nevada.
