Nevada girls fall to Boliver; Rice, Webb chosen for Southwest Girls All-Conference team

The Nevada Lady Tigers' season ended ignominiously Wednesday night with a 62-34 defeat at the hands of Bolivar at the state sectional playoffs in Sedalia's State Fair Community College.
The Tigers started slow, tallying only 11 first half points to fall behind 40-11 at the break. Nevada never recovered from the first half deficit despite a fourth quarter rally fueled by 13 points from senior Jordan Webb and 10 from senior Lindsay Rice.
Nevada was unable to slow down Bolivar's Casey Garrison who scored most of her game-high 23 points in the first half. Also in double digits for the Liberators were Rachel Sawyer and Jessi Rumselt, each with 10.
After the game head coach Brent Bartlett said despite the loss his squad made some significant strides this season.
"Bolivar is a very good," Bartlett said. "They took third in state last year and had four starters back. The improvement of the team (Nevada) throughout the year and winning back to back district championships is something this team won't ever forget."
The Lady Tigers' final record dropped to 12-14. Despite the losing record, two Nevada players were tabbed for all-conference honors. Rice was selected to the first team Southwest All-Conference and Webb represents the Lady Tigers on the second team.
Nevada was led by Jordan Webb with 13 points, followed by Lindsay Rice with 10. Also scoring for the Lady Tigers were Taylor Means with 4 and Heather Thomas with 3. Karlee Hughes and Jordan Bell finished with 2 points each.
Bolivar's Casey Garrison led all scorers with 23. She was joined in double figures by Jessi Rumselt and Rachel Sawyer with 10. Hayley Blair had 8 while Julie Collar and Andrea Porter tallied 4 and 3 points, respectively. Rachel Schrader and Brooke Hale scored two points on the night.
