Student interest in the election process prompted an effort by the Nevada Crowder College student government group to initiate a voter registration campaign. Their efforts began on Monday and was to continue through this week. Students contacted the Vernon County Clerk's office to get forms and information about what they needed to undertake the project. Nearly 20 students signed up to work shifts in the Crowder College Bookstore to get students registered to vote. Nevada Campus Political Science instructor Judge Mick Williams (from Carthage) integrated the process into her classroom instruction and encouraged students to pursue the project. "It's great to see students of all ages getting ready to vote for the first time. With increased interest because of the presidential campaign, it's generated a curiosity and desire for students to make their voices heard in the election process. It's the ultimate learning experience," said Nevada Campus Director Donna Thomas.
