Betty J. McQueen

Betty J. McQueen, 83, of Nevada, passed away on Friday, March 21, 2008, at Moore-Few Care Center, in Nevada. She was born Aug. 21, 1924, in Nevada, to Lyle Baker and Suzie Bell Baker. She was married to Forrest Neil McQueen on Dec. 11, 1945, in Fort Scott, and he survives of the home.

Betty grew up in Vernon County and graduated from Nevada High School in 1942. She was a bookkeeper for her husband's business and enjoyed doing craft work. She and her husband enjoyed traveling in their motor home and visited most of the United States.

She is survived, in addition to her husband Neil, by one son, Don McQueen and his wife Jean, of Nevada; and one granddaughter, Amanda McQueen, of St. Louis. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Annie DeGroodt, of Little Rock, Ark.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, March 24, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada. Interment will follow at Newton Burial Park, in Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at the funeral home.
