Edward Loyd Fryer
Edward Loyd Fryer, 78, went to be with the Lord on Sunday night, June 8, 2008, after a courageous battle with cancer. He died peacefully at home in San Antonio, Texas, surrounded by his family. He was born Dec. 29, 1929, at Atkins, Ark. Hewas married to Dorothy May Brown for 54 years.
He served in the United States Air Force for 23 years, and was a Vietnam veteran and retired in 1974 at Whiteman A.F.B., in Missouri.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; his daughters, Gale Crenshaw and her husband David, of El Dorado, Kan., Denni McCarter and her husband Bob, of San Antonio, Texas, and Beth Kummeth, of Blue Springs, Mo.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his twin brother, Floyd Fryer, and brother, Jim Fryer, both of Atkins, Ark., and brother Bob Fryer, of Dothan, Ala., and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, E.P. and Ophelia Fryer; and his sisters, Ola Mae Hornick, and Opal Lee Marsh.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 11, from 6 to 8 p.m.; services will be on Thursday, June 12, at Ferry Funeral Home, at 1 p.m., in Nevada. He will be buried with full military honors, at Fort Scott National Cemetery, in Fort Scott, Kan.
