Rain doesn't dampen fun in Walker

Walker Fun Days Royalty: Princess-Katy Harms, Little Princess-Madison Bailey.

Only one small shower fell during Walker Fun Days, but it didn't dampen the fun. Every Walkerite should have a Fun Days sunburn, according to Walker correspondent Neoma Foreman.

Friday evening the Northeast Vernon County sophomore class served barbecued sandwiches and an ice cream social with homemade ice cream and cake. Wyatt Brown filled the evening with song due to an emergency medical problem for another that was slated.

The eighth grade class had breakfast in the park Saturday morning. while the Wind Riders conducted a bike show.

A cake walk, a baby show and a draft horse pull also were conducted in the morning. The results of those will be given later. The Walker Rural Fire Department had water games and the Walker School Reunion was held from noon to 2 p.m. The miniature pedal tractor pull results will be given later.

There were 19 entries in the parade of which Juanita Foreman was the Grand Marshall and rode in a 1941 Chevy driven by her son, Roy Foreman. Winners of the Little Princess Contest was Madison Bailey, daughter of Brandy and Wyatt Brown. Katy Harms was crowned Princess of Walker Fun Days. She is the daughter of Randy and Tracy Harms.

The Walker Rural Fire Department hosted a hamburger feed Saturday evening while Calvary Road gave a gospel concert. The evening closed with music by the Timberline Band. Sunday, the NEVC Art Club hosted breakfast in the park, Cowboy Church in the park, and the Walker Rural Fire Tractor Pull.
