Pearce plans to urge Congress to increase domestic oil production
As part of his commitment to battle skyrocketing gas prices, Republican David Pearce has announced his pledge to file a resolution in the Missouri Senate urging Congress to allow oil exploration offshore and in Alaska to increase domestic production in order to provide some relief at the pump for the people of the 31st State Senatorial District.
Pearce said he would make the resolution one of the first things he does next January when he joins the Missouri Senate because of his concerns that many liberals in Congress opposed lifting the 27-year-old ban against exploration in waters along both the East and West coasts, the eastern Gulf of Mexico and in the Arctic National Wildlife Reserve, better known as ANWR.
"It is vitally important that the Missouri Senate make it clear that Missourians including those in Bates, Cass, Johnson and Vernon counties are tired of being held hostage by foreign oil producing nations that would do us harm," Pearce said. "I am prepared to do all I can to let Congress know that it is time for them to stop wasting time and allow environmentally friendly exploration offshore and in Alaska."
