Fisher appointed chair of House Committee on Workforce Development and Workplace Safety
Jefferson City -- House Speaker Ron Richard, R-Joplin, Wednesday, named Representative Barney Fisher, R-Richards, to chair the House Committee on Workforce Development and Workplace Safety for the 95th General Assembly. Rep. Fisher served as a member of the committee for the 93rd and 94th General Assemblies.
"Barney Fisher is a true public servant," said Speaker Richard. He added, "Barney served his country as a Marine fighter pilot and now is continuing to serve Missouri and the people in the 125th District. I'm proud to call Barney my friend and colleague."
The House Workforce Development and Work-place Safety Committee considers and reports upon bills and matters referred to it relating workers' compensation, employment security, and the departments administering each of these, and on matters referred to it relating to the conditions and interest of labor. As chair of the committee, Fisher will preside over committee hearings and be responsible for all legislation referred to the committee.
"I am honored to head-up this important committee and that Speaker Richard has placed his trust in my leadership," said Fisher.
