Tiger tennis falls to Fort Scott in opener
The Nevada Tigers tennis team opened their season with a loss at the hands of the Fort Scott Tigers Monday afternoon.
The Tigers traveled to Fort Scott, Kan., for their opener and were able to pick up some solid performances, but ultimately fell 6-3. Two Tigers were able to pick up individual wins out of the six matches, along with one of the three doubles teams.
Among those taking individual wins for Nevada were Taylor Chapman in the first singles match, followed by Dominic Habjan. Chapman earned his victory in what proved to be the most even match of the day, taking the victory 8-7, 7-4.
In doubles competition, Chapman and Habjan teamed up to defeat Fort Scott's Colton Grillot and Gabe Quick, 8-6.
The Tigers were set to be in action again on Tuesday, heading back out on the road against Monett High School, before coming home for the first time of the season on April 2.
