Ruth Eileen Ferguson
Ruth Eileen Ferguson, 90, of North Little Rock, Ark., formerly of Hume, Mo., died Thursday, April 9, 2009 at Lonoke Nursing and Rehabilitation.
She was born Oct. 26, 1918, in Hume, the daughter of Lloyd and Cora Austin Brooks. She married James Ferguson on May 26, 1942, at Nevada. After their marriage they lived in California until moving to North Little Rock in 1950. Ruth was a collector of Depression glass, post cards and antiques. She and James enjoyed traveling and ballroom dancing to the swing bands.
She also enjoyed sewing and quilting and was her family's genealogist.
Ruth always had fond memories of growing up on her family farm called Nubbin Ridge where she loved the flowers, especially lilacs where she had tea parties as a young girl.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Clarence A. Brooks and two sisters, Elsie Cohick and Virgie Drumeller.
Survivors include her husband, James of North Little Rock, Arkansas; two nieces, Linda Garrison and Clarenita Brack and three nephews, Timmie Drumeller, Larry Cohick and Eddie Brooks Sr.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 15, at the Coffel-Schneider Chapel, Pleasan-ton, Kan.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time. Contributions are suggested to Patrick Hayes Senior Center or Paralyzed Veterans Association.
Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Fort Scott, Kan.
