Jeremy Robert Smith
Jeremy Robert Smith, 32, Nevada, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 25, 2009, at Freeman Hospital West, in Joplin, following an illness of several months. He was born Sept. 12, 1976, in Nevada, to Robert Leon Smith and Peggy Sue Hamilton Smith. He married Cheri Maulsby on June 7, 1997, in Nevada, and she survives of the home.
Jeremy was born in Nevada and spent 10 years of his youth in Oregon. He graduated from Nevada High School in 1995. He worked for many years in construction and most recently has been employed by MNA Railroad as a locomotive mechanic. He was a member of the National Songwriters Association and has played in his own band with his twin brother for the past 18 years. Jeremy was also a member of the Deerfield Baptist Church, Deerfield, Mo.
Survivors in addition to his wife Cheri include, three children, Kaylee Smith, Kyla Smith, and Kaleb Smith, all of the home; his parents, Robert and Peggy Smith, Compton; one brother, Jason Smith, Arma, Kan.; one sister, Teresa Shey, Boulder, Colo.; and grandparents, Russell and Betty Hamilton, Apache Junction, Ariz.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., on Wednesday, July 29, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with Mahlon Stuckey officiating. Interment will follow in Moore Cemetery, Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends from 6-7 p.m., on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to the Jeremy Smith Cancer Fund in care of US Bank, Nevada.
