Woman arrested on charges of bribing a public official
A 37-year-old Nevada woman has been arrested on charges of bribery of a public official. According to a probable cause statement filed in a Vernon County Court by Nevada Police Officer James Moore in the felony complaint submitted by Vernon County Prosecutor Lynn Ewing III, Hanh My Thi Nguyen approached him after being told by cashier Steve Ogle at Cash N' Dash 2 in Nevada, that beer sales weren't allowed after 1:30 a.m.
Nguyen offered Moore $500 to purchase beer for her. According to his statement, he replied that he, "did not need or want her money, I then asked Hanh if she were driving."
Moore said he told Nguyen that she could not drive around the city of Nevada while drinking or being intoxicated and requested she submit to a breath test, which she refused.
Moore transported Nguyen to the Vernon County Sheriff's Office for driving while intoxicated and failure to maintain lane.
Nguyen then offered Moore $500 to let her go. Moore requested officer Hanson, who had arrived on the scene, to check on the passenger in Nguyen's vehicle.
