SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The Cottey College volleyball team posted their first win of the season Saturday with a three-game sweep of Central Bible College, 25-20, 25-22 and 25-20.

"Well, we finally got the goose egg off of our record and won our first match of the season," Comets head coach Marla Kannady Foreman said. Passing was a bit off throughout most of the match, Foreman said, but the Comets were still able to complete the sweep, improving their passing substantially and overcoming an early 8-2 deficit to win the final set.

Nevada High School graduates Taylor Means and Emily Moore finished the match with 15 and 14 digs, respectively while Means led with six kills. Kailey Kelly had 26 assists, Chrissy Echeverria recorded four aces and Andrea Hass added a team-high three blocks.

With that win, the Comets improved their record to 1-6 on the year and are scheduled to play in the district/regional seeding tournament this Saturday at Union, Mo.
