Raymond D. Townson
Raymond D. Townson, 86, of Bedford, N.H., died Sept. 18, 2009, at his residence after a period of declining health.
He was born in Bronaugh, Mo., Nov. 5, 1922, and was the son of Harley and Leona (Knaack) Townson. He lived in Bronaugh, most of his life and had been a resident of New Hampshire since 2003.
Mr. Townson served in the United States Navy during World War II. He worked for the United States Postal Service and served as Postmaster in Bronaugh, until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and was an amateur radio buff.
Family members include his wife of 63 years, Frances (Wilkinson) Townson of Bedford, N.H.; his son, Denny R. Townson of Amherst, N.H.; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service, with military honors, was held Monday, Sept. 21, at 11 a.m., at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, N.H.
