MoDOT meeting on bridges set for Oct. 6

Friday, October 2, 2009

The Missouri Department of Transportation Southwest District will host a community briefing regarding future Vernon County Safe and Sound bridge projects on Tuesday, Oct. 6, from 5-7 p.m., in the diner at the Vernon County fairgrounds, Nevada.

During the informal come-and-go meeting, MoDOT representatives will discuss the Route H Bridge over the Marmaton River near Deerfield; the Route F Bridge over Little Drywood Creek near Moundville, and the Route DD Bridge over Clear Creek near Milo.

A total of 73 bridges are scheduled for repair throughout MoDOT's Southwest District as part of the Safe and Sound efforts. Signs were erected last year identifying each of the bridges set for repair.

Each bridge in the Safe and Sound program will be closed for approximately six weeks during the work, so crews can work quickly and cost efficiently, making all repairs at one time. Motorists should plan alternate routes when each bridge is under construction.

For more information or a complete listing of bridges included in the program, please call the MoDOT Southwest District, (417) 629-3300 or (888) ASK-MoDOT, or log onto http://www.modot.org/southwest and click on the "Safe and Sound" logo.
