Lady Hornets win four straight
The Hume Lady Hornets varsity volleyball team added four more strong performances to their record with recent victories over Sheldon, Bronaugh, Ballard and Drexel.
In the first of those four matches, the Lady Hornets hosted Sheldon, earning a strong two-set victory. The Lady Panthers mad a game of it in both sets, but ultimately fell short by the final scores of 25-19 and 25-17.
Next, the Lady Hornets traveled to Bronaugh for a tough match against the Lady Wildcats. Bronaugh won the first set of the night, but the Lady Hornets came back and played hard for the final two sets, ultimately earning the match victory by the final scores of 13-25, 25-19 and 25-9.
The Lady Hornets then headed to Drexel for their annual tournament, earning two more strong victories. The first of those two wins came in another close contest against Ballard in which the Lady Hornets needed three sets to earn a victory.
Ballard refused to go down without a fight in any of those three sets, but the Lady Hornets were ultimately able to win the battle in the end, taking the match victory by the scores of 24-26, 26-24 and 25-23.
The Lady Hornets had similar struggles against Drexel, needing extra points in both sets to decide a winner. Hume was ultimately able to come out on top of both sets by 26-24 scores.
Over those four matches, Carlee Campbell led the Lady Hornets with 29 points, 33 kills and four blocks, while Sara Farrar served up a team-high 10 aces and 37 assists.
With those victories, the Lady Hornets improved their record to 9-2 on the year, 5-0 in conference play.
