Rain washes out area sports

Friday, October 9, 2009

Mother Nature has forced the Nevada High School athletic department to make a number of revisions to this week's sports schedules.

The Nevada High School cross country team was set to head to Carl Junction, Mo., Thursday for a dual meet, but large amounts of continuing rainfall forced the cancellation of that meet. No rescheduling efforts will be made.

The Nevada Lady Tigers varsity volleyball team was also scheduled to be in action Thursday afternoon in second-round play at the Class 3, District 12 tournament in Carl Junction, but we conditions forced day two action in that tournament to be pushed back. Weather permitting, the Lady Tigers will take on the top-seeded McDonald County Lady Mustangs at 3:30 p.m.

There is a possibility of moving the tournament back another day, however, in which case, the Lady Tigers would take on the Lady Mustangs tomorrow at noon.
