Betty Jo Howrey

Betty Jo Howrey, 75, Nevada, died at her residence Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009, following a lengthy illness. She was born Feb. 3, 1934, in Milo, Mo., to Henry Carol (H.C.) Householder and Jennie Mae Swift Householder.

Betty Jo grew up in Nevada and graduated from Nevada High School in 1952. She lived in Nevada her whole life except for 10 years (1959 -- l969) spent in Boulder, Colo. She worked in the food service industry at various places in Nevada the majority of her life. Betty Jo enjoyed her family, yard work, and reading and studying the Bible daily. She was a long time member of the Assembly of God Churches.

Survivors include three daughters, Rita Pisciotta Duncan and her husband John, Nevada, Brenda Hester and her husband Barry, Rogers, Ark., Paula Spiva, Springfield, Mo; six grandchildren, Amber Campbell and her husband Dustin, Nevada, Brock Pisciotta, Kansas City, Mo., Jake Spiva, El Dorado Springs, Mo., Adele Nix and her husband Anthony, Springfield, Mo., Cole Golden Hester, and Jessica Hester, both of Rogers, Ark.; five great-grandchildren, Caden, Morgan, Jacob, Tyler, and Colter; one sister, Mary Lou Ijams and her husband Earl, Schell City; four brothers, Don Householder, Nevada, Howard Householder, Springfield, Mo., Carol Householder, Milo, Mo., and David Householder, Lamar, Mo. She was preceded in death by one son, Jackie Howrey in 1974, three sisters, Melba Driskell, Alberta Householder, and Alice York, one brother, Harold Householder.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Oct. 23, at the Pentecostal Assembly Church in Nevada, with Shelby Brandt officiating. Interment will follow in Moore Cemetery in Nevada.

Friends may call from now and until 9 a.m., on Friday, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
