City, county welcome new 911 director

Nevada Police Chief Gary Herstein introduces April Tarrant, the director of the Western Missouri 911 Dispatch Center, to the Nevada City Council during Tuesday's council meeting. Tarrant, who came to Nevada from Warrensburg, where she was been the director of the Johnson County 911 Dispatch Center, started work on Monday. She told the council that she is a graduate of Missouri Southern State University. Vernon County Commissioner Neal Gerster announced on Wednesday that Vernon County will be presented an award in recognition of the establishment of the Dispatch Center by the Missouri Association of Counties later this fall. --Ralph Pokorny/Daily Mail
