Martha Matilda Perkey

Martha Matilda Perkey, 97, Nevada, MO, passed away on Sunday, November 8, 2009, at Nevada Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. She was born March 4, 1912, in Spruce, MO, to William Thurman Perkey and Lena May Fillpot Perkey.

Martha was born, raised, and spent virtually her entire life in this area. She worked for a number of years at Bendix in Kansas City and the cheese plant in El Dorado Springs, MO. She was an avid gardener and bird watcher.

Survivors include one brother, Herbert Perkey, Nevada, MO; her life partner, Wilma Fillpot, Nevada, MO; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by three brothers and seven sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 12, 2009, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, MO, with Pastor Bill Perkey officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park, Nevada, MO. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at the funeral home.
