Nevada firefighters open an attic vent to ventilate the smoke from a house fire at 523 S. Chestnut Tuesday night. The Nevada Fire Department sent five units and 12 firefighters to the fire shortly after 11 p.m., and according to a press release from the Nevada Fire Department, there was heavy fire and smoke visible at the rear of the house when they arrived. The house, owned by Richard Savant, was vacant and in the process of being remodeled. The fire department reported that the cause of the fire was an electrical short in a table saw.
