Darold L. Miller
Darold L. Miller, age 75 of Deerfield, died on Saturday, December 19, 2009 at the Medical Lodge in Nevada following a lengthy illness. He was born on Jan. 4, 1934, in Worth County, Mo., to Alva L. Miller and Clella B. Todd Miller. On Nov. 4, 1959 he was married in Stanberry, Mo., to Judith Ann McKnight and she survives of the home.
Darold graduated from the Worth County High School in Grant City, Mo., in 1953. He first served in the U.S. Naval Reserves and then the U.S. Army in the 1950s serving in the United States and Germany though not during war time. He worked in the Kansas City area most of his working life as a carpenter. In 1960 he and Judith came to Vernon County where he continued to work as a self-employed carpenter.
Survivors in addition to his wife Judith include, one son Gary D. Miller of Springfield, Mo.; one grandson, Ryan Miller, and his granddaughter, Tori Miller both of Springfield, one brother, Harold Miller of Carlisle, Iowa; two sisters, Doris Monday, Redding, Iowa, and Donna Lea Grinstead and her husband Bud of St. Joseph, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and one sister.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., on Monday, Dec. 21, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. Interment will follow in the Deerfield Cemetery, Deerfield, Mo. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m., on Sunday evening at the funeral home.
