Search for Nevada city manager to resume in January
The Nevada City Council's search for a permanent city manager is progressing, but is on hold until after Jan. 1 according to Nevada Mayor Mike Hutchens.
Interim City Manager Harlan Moore has been in the city's top job since the resignation of Bill McGuire in November 2008.
The field of candidates has been narrowed, and some discussions with potential city manager candidates have taken place already.
"We did interviews with three candidates last week and there are two we want to do a second interview with," he said Friday.
"Because of the holidays we'll need to wait until after Jan. 1," he said.
The council conducted their preliminary interviews using the teleconferencing facilities at the Bowman Building.
Hutchens said that they want to interview a couple more candidates using the same method so it will be fair to everyone. However, since the Bowman Building is a Nevada R-5 School facility, it will be closed until school resumes on Jan. 4.
"There's a good chance that before the middle of January we will have had a couple of candidates come to town for a second interview," he said.
"We are planning to invite them to come to Nevada --spend the day here, tour the city facilities, meet the department heads and have an in depth interview with the council," Hutchens said.
Names of those who are being interviewed for the position have not yet been released.
