Academic All-State honorees announced

The Missouri Basketball Coaches Association will honor 60 senior girls and 66 boys who have been nominated by their coaches and certified by their high school administration as 2010 MBCA Academic All-State student athletes. They have met both academic and basketball criteria to attain this high honor.

Among those receiving this honor is one local athlete -- Katlyn Douglas. Douglas is a senior at Bronaugh High School and led the Lady Wildcats in points (19) and rebounds (14) per game this year as well as maintain the highest standards of academic excellence.

The Academic All-State Banquet will be held on Sunday, April 18, 2010, at the University of Missouri Reynolds Alumni Center, in Columbia, Mo., at 1 p.m. This is the largest Academic All-State class in the 26 years that the event has been held.

The 2010 MBCA Coaches of the Year for each of the five classes of the Missouri State High School Activities Association will be honored along with Miss and Mr. Show-Me Basketball, the Kevin "Cub" Martin Memorial Missouri Assistant Coach of the Year, the Curtis Kerr Memorial Missouri High School Student-Assistant of the Year and Ms. and Mr. Special Olympic Missouri Basketball Award winners.
