Lloyd H. Earnest
On Monday, April 19, 2010, after a courageous battle with cancer, the Lord took home his child and faithful servant, Lloyd H. Earnest, 60, of Nevada.
He was born on Dec. 9, 1949, to Comelious and Molly Francis Earnest in Tinsman, Ark., He accepted Christ as his personal savior as a young child, and lived his life as a testimony to his faith.
He was honorably discharged from the United States Army in 1978. He met and married his soul mate, Geraldine "Gerri" Meeks Henry in 1992.
Lloyd was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and worked for National Mobile Television as a driver/broadcast engineer. His duties included coverage of the NFL, FOX Sports, ESPN, ABC Monday Night Football, Masters Golf, Stanley Cup, NHL, Motocross, Winter Olympics, the Academy Awards, and numerous other events.
Lloyd enjoyed gardening his beautiful yard and was an avid fisherman. He loved family gathering with his children and grandchildren. He especially loved to take his dogs to the park.
He made a difference in the life of anyone who ever met him and was a friend to all. His last unselfish act was the gracious gift of sight to two visually impaired people, with the donation of his eyes.
Preceding him in death were his grandparents, father, and one brother.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, who cared for him to the end, Gerri Earnest, of the home; mother, Molly of the state of Arkansas; mother-in-law, Dean Meeks of Stockton; son, Daryl Earnest of San Diego, Calif.; daughters Mary Chanter and family of the state of Arkansas and Sarah Martin and family, also of the state of Arkansas; Michael Brown and family, of Milo, Mo., Kara Brown and family. of Dallas, Texas, and Charlotte Turner and family. of Nevada; brothers, Mark Speights, Jimmy Earnest and families, from the state of Arkansas; 10 grandsons; four granddaughters; and a host of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. His best friend and neighbor Wendy Mac Laren as well as his three Boston Terrier babies, Marley, Kirby and Abby.
A private family ceremony was held Saturday, April 24, in Nevada. Burial will be at a later date at Old Union Cemetery in Stockton.
Honorary pallbearers were: Daryl Earnest, Harold Dawes, Shelby Dawes, Michael Brown, Caleb Brown and Kenny Meeks.
