Tony W. Fleeman
Tony W. Fleeman, age 51, Fort Scott, Kan., died Friday, June 11, 2010, at the Barton County Memorial Hospital emergency room following an apparent heart attack while working in Nevada. He was born June 27, 1958, in Fort Scott, the son of John T. Fleeman and Dorothy Faye (Coulter) Fleeman. He married Diana Lynn Hill on Aug. 1, 1976, in Fort Scott. Tony was a city of Fort Scott employee for 18 years. Sixteen of those years with the city he was over the parks and recreation department as well as overseeing city street lights and signs. Three years, he worked with street maintenance. Tony helped in forming the Christmas, Fourth of July and Halloween in the Park events at Gunn Park. He also helped establish the exotic bird display at Gunn Park. He set up and was responsible for the electricity downtown during Fort Scott's annual Good Ol' Days celebrations. Tony was a member of the men's V.F.W auxiliary.
Survivors include his wife Diana, of the home; three sons, Tony Fleeman and wife Audra, Nevada, Mo., John Fleeman and wife Kimber, Fort Scott, and Carl Fleeman and wife Amber, Fort Scott; one daughter, Kara Watson and husband Will, Fort Scott; three brothers, Johnnie Fleeman and wife Lorania, Colorado Springs, Colo., Gilbert Fleeman and wife Ruth, Fort Scott, and Henry "Gene" Fleeman and wife Shelly, Fort Scott; and three sisters, Linda Swink, Nevada, Mo., Judy Wortman and husband Tim, Oklahoma, and April Ford and husband Cavin, Fort Scott. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
The Rev. Chuck Russell will conduct graveside services at noon Wednesday, June 16, in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Fort Scott.
