Marci Murrow

Saturday, August 7, 2010

It is always great to find someone doing well. One of our students was asking me to check on a scholarship that she thought was going to be offered at Wichita State University. I asked her to get the phone number and I would be happy to make the call. She gave me an 800 number, which was the admissions office at Wichita State University. I dialed and a voice answered, "Wichita State University, this is Marci".

The voice sounded quite familiar, so I said, "Marci of Fort Scott Community College"? "Yes". "Marci of Uniontown, Kansas"? "Yes". "Marci Murrow"? "Yes".

"Who is this"? she asked. I told her and asked her how she was doing. I asked her my question and she said, "Let me connect you with another lady concerning the scholarship because I think she has some information". The next lady was just as bright and cherry. My first statement to her was, "I hope Marci Murrow is doing the kind of work for you that she did for F. S. C. C., when she was in the Instruction Office". Her reply was, "She is great. I wish we had more like her".

We then concluded our business. She thanked me for calling. It is easy to have a good day when you can call 150 miles to a major university and find a F. S. C. C.. graduate doing quality work.
