Louise Landers
Louise Landers, 88, passed away quietly at NorthCare Hospice House in North Kansas City, Mo., on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010.
Louise was born to Howard and Gladys (Hall) Campbell on June 21, 1922, in Moundville, Mo. Louise grew up in Moundville, later attending and graduating from Bronaugh High School. On July 13, 1940, Louise married Samuel J. Landers Jr., in Nevada, and on Nov. 7, 1942, Louise and Samuel celebrated the birth of their twins, Sherry and Terry. Louise and Sammy were very involved in their children and grandchildren's lives, keeping up with all of their educational and sports activities. In later years, Sam and Louise regularly attended football and basketball games at Appleton City schools. Louise was very involved in the Appleton City community; she worked for the Appleton City schools as a cook for several years. She also worked for more than 20 years as a bookkeeper and sales clerk at A.C. Jewelry in Appleton City, which was owned by Granville McQueen. Louise was also a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, Chapter CC of Appleton City, and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Appleton City where she was a member of the United Methodist Women.
Louise is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Samuel Landers Jr.; a sister, Trixie Daugherty, and husband, Ralph; a brother, Gene Campbell; and three brothers-in--law, Darwin Landers, Darrell Dennis and Gene Bland; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Campbell (Cecil) and Dorothy Campbell (Baxter). Louise is survived by her twins, Sherry Padley and husband Robert, Terry Landers and wife Susan; grandchildren, Rene Purtee and husband Larry, Shannon Box and husband Darren, Grant Padley and wife Heidi, and Charles Landers and wife Rachel; 10 great-grandchildren, Marshall Purtee, Luke Landers, Mark Landers, Samuel Landers, Benjamin Landers, Nathan Padley, Kyle Box, Avery Purtee, Delaney Box and Sophia Padley; three brothers, John Campbell and wife Pat, Cecil Campbell, and Baxter Campbell; two sisters, Alberta Hagenson and husband Bob, and Patsy Bland; one sister-in-law Doris Dennis; and one brother-in-law Zed Landers and wife Carlene.
Visitation will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 4, at Hill and Son Funeral Home, Appleton City. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 4, at the funeral home, with Dr. Ken Lutgen officiating. Interment will follow in Appleton City Cemetery, Appleton City.
