Judge denies bond for Henry

Wednesday, September 29, 2010

Dennis Henry appeared in federal court in Kansas City, Mo. before U.S. Magistrate Judge Robert Larsen seeking bond. Larsen denied the request and ordered Henry to remain jailed until trial.

Henry was indicted earlier in the month, along with four other Missouri men when a federal grand jury unsealed an 11 count indictment naming Henry, 50, of Wheatland Mo.; Edward Bagley Sr., 43, and Michael Stokes, 62, both of Lebanon, Mo.; James Noel, 44, of Springfield, Mo.; and Bradley Cook, 31, of St. Louis, in connection with a human sex trafficking conspiracy.

The 21-page indictment alleges that a young, mentally deficient woman was taken into the home of Bagley and subjected to sexual abuse and torture for several years in Bagley's rural Lebanon, Mo., home.

The indictment further alleges that the woman, identified only as FV in court documents, was forced to work as an exotic dancer at local strip clubs and that she was transported to other states by Bagley and Henry for pornographic photo shoots.

Three defendants, Henry, Bagley and Noel are being held in Kansas City and had originally waived a detention hearing, but Henry's attorney, Christene M. Blegen, filed a motion to set bond with the court on Sept. 20.

The case against Henry has been set for trial at the federal courthouse in Kansas City, Mo., on Oct. 25. He remains incarcerated.
