NMS Science Fair viewing tonight

Kaylee Nelson sets up her science project Wednesday evening for the Nevada Middle School seventh and eighth grade science fair in the middle school lobby. Judging of the 191 projects will take place today and the projects can be viewed between 6 and 7 this evening. The awards ceremony will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in the Nevada Middle School gymnasium. Trophies, medals and ribbons will be awarded to category winners, as well as best of show and other special awards.

Categories include: botany, chemistry/biochemistry, Earth science, general science, medicine and health, physical science, technology and inventions and zoology. Special awards will be presented for: most creative, most environmentally friendly, most healthy tips, best use of technology, super slick and science safety.

Four special awards will be presented in honor of former Nevada Middle School science teachers Joe Olive, Levon Haller, Janet Guthrie and Larry Hurst.

The science fair is sponsored by the Nevada Rotary Club, which provides $50 savings bonds to each category winner and a $100 savings bond for the Best in Show winner.
