Betty Ruth McClain, 86, Nevada, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011 at Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada, following a lengthy illness. She was born April 6, 1924, in Harrisonville, Mo., to Phillip Scott Davis and Grace Mae Barr Davis. She was married Feb. 16, 1947, in Harrisonville, Mo., to John McClain and he survives of the home.

Mrs. McClain was born and raised in Harrisonville, Mo., and graduated from Harrisonville High School in 1942. Following her marriage, she lived in Appleton City, Mo., for seven years before coming to Nevada and spending the rest of her life here. She worked part-time for Nevada Electric with her husband, but was primarily a homemaker. She was a member of the Nevada United Methodist Church, the Methodist Women's Circle and the BPW. She enjoyed bowling and playing bridge. She traveled to bird dog field trials with her husband for many, many years.

In addition to her husband, John, survivors include one son, Scott McClain and his wife, Barb, Nevada; two daughters, Debby Grizzle and her husband, Joe, Webb City, Mo., and Ginny Cline and her husband, Steve, Miami, Okla.; five grandchildren, Brock McClain, Overland Park, Kan., Tegan Hawks and her husband, Zac, Lee's Summit, Mo., Breanna Grizzle, Chandler, Ariz., Tyler Cline, Miami, Okla., and Emily Cline, Liberty, Mo.; two brothers, Dr. Phillip Barr Davis and his wife, Madalyn, Hitchita, Okla., and Joseph Newton Davis and his wife, Carol, Pagosa Springs, Colo.; special friend, Sedda Crawford, Nevada; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 18, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with the Rev. Ralph Clark officiating. Interment will follow at Newton Burial Park in Nevada.

Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home, and the family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday between 10 and 11 a.m., prior to the funeral service.
