Ruth Ann Jones
Ruth Ann Jones, 80, Milo, Mo., passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2011, at Barton County Memorial Hospital, Lamar, Mo., following a lengthy illness. She was born on April 11, 1930, in Deerfield, Mo., to Arthur Howard Barker and Sadie Jewel Thurston Barker. She married Lewis Joseph Jones on July 24, 1945, in Fort Scott, Kan., and he survives of the home.
Ruth was born and raised in Vernon County and following her marriage, she spent most of her adult life in Kansas City. She returned to Vernon County in 1986 and spent the rest of her life here. She worked for many years at various manufacturing jobs. Ruth was an avid gardener and she loved to cook. She loved her family and that love was returned in full.
In addition to her husband, Lewis, she is survived by one daughter, Jo Ann Guzman and her husband, Frank, Milo; grandchildren, David Jones, Nevada, Davina Gilham and her husband, Tim, Trenton, Mo., Kevin Metcalf and his wife, Hope, Jasper, Mo., Chad Metcalf and his wife, Kari, Jasper, Mo., Jason Metcalf and his wife, Laura, Powell, Mo., Giannia Busey and her husband, Adam, Nevada, Ryan Jones and his wife, Melanie, Liberal, Mo., Chris Jones and his wife, Becci, Lamar, Mo., Teresa Jones and her husband, Bryan Trusell, Independence, Mo., and Lisa Villarill and her husband, Jason, Independence, Mo.; great-grandchildren, Ellis and Emma Gilham; Amanda, Jonathan, Jessie, Andy, and Megan Metcalf; Tyson and Desirea Busey; Nathan, Kadi, Wyatt, Sara, Christian, and Cheyenne Jones; Kayla and Miah Villarill; Seth and Gage Trussell; Rayleine and Abigail Metcalf, and Jared Horton; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; children, infant son, David, David Lewis Jones and Danny Lee Jones; brothers, Glenn Elson Barker, William Thomas Barker, Earnest Howard Barker, Merle R. Barker and Elmer Lee Barker; and sisters, LaVern Josephine Henderson and Lottie Jane Barker.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 9, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada. Interment will follow in Deerfield Cemetery, Deerfield, Mo. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends from 7-8 p.m., Tuesday, March 8, at the funeral home.
