James Roy Vermillion
James Roy Vermillion passed away on March 27, 2011, surrounded by his family. He was born Oct. 13, 1929, in Lake Arthur, N.M., to Roy Leonard and Laura Lynn Spence Vermillion. He married his sweetheart, Hazel Lee Robbs Vermillion, on May 27, 1949, in Safford, Ariz.
James graduated from high school in Washington. He was a farmer and a rancher. He lived in the Sheldon and Bronaugh area for several years. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He has four children, seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. He enjoyed woodworking and welding.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel; his children, Naoma Hudson, James Vermillion and Lee Ann Freeze. Also survived by his sister, Betty Clark, of Gentry, Ark.; his brothers, Lewis Vermillion of Las Cruces, N.M., and Joe Vermillion of Joplin, Mo.; a half-sister, Linda Abercrombie of Southwest City, Mo.; and his stepmother, Mildred Herbertson of Fort Baird, N.M. He is preceded in death by his son, Lewis Vermillion.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, April 1, at the Newton Burial Park Cemetery in Nevada, at 2 p.m. Local arrangements are under the direction of Lohmeyer--Konantz Funeral Home.
