Maxine Marie Miller Skillman
Maxine Marie Skillman, 89, went to be with her Heavenly Father, Sunday morning, April 3, 2011. She was born in Zeandale, Kan., Oct. 23, 1921, to Walter Emanuel Miller and Beatrice McCormick Miller.
Maxine was married Oct. 20, 1942, to Burtis Franklin Skillman who preceded her in death Feb. 23, 1970. The family moved to North Kansas City, Mo., in 1958. Maxine worked and retired from Pioneer Weaving and Bags in North Kansas City, Mo. She came to live with her son, Joe and his family in Nevada, Mo., in 2005. Maxine attended Nevada Assembly of God Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend. She will be sadly missed.
Maxine is survived by her sons, Joseph Lee Skillman and his wife, Sherrial, of Nevada, and Raymond Franklin Skillman, also of Nevada. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; as well as a sister, Genevieve Busse and her husband, Jack, of Daytona, Fla. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two sons, John Patrick Skillman and William Clay Skillman; daughter-in-law, Helen F. Skillman; two brothers, Carl Miller and Henry Miller; and a sister, Josephine Miller.
Memorial service will be Thursday, April 7 at 11 a.m., at Nevada Assembly of God Church, with the Rev. Robert Chastain officiating, followed by a graveside service on Friday, April 8, at 1:30 p.m., at D.W. Newcomer's Sons White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Gladstone, Mo.
