Margaret Ruth Shields Snow

Margaret Ruth Shields Snow, 88, Lamar, Mo., passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at 6:05 a.m., at the Barton County Memorial Hospital in Lamar.

Margaret was born March 17, 1923, in Center, Mo., to Roy Clifford and Daisy Madge (Stuller) Shulse. She was a Center High School graduate. She played basketball and was extremely proud of her team.

Margaret married James Dale Shields Sr. on March 1, 1947, in Kansas City, Kan. He preceded her in death on March 24, 1984. She later married Fred Snow and he died in 1993.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Lamar, a member of the Fidelis Class, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 59 years, a former member of 8 & 40 Club. She was very active at the Lamar Senior Citizens. She loved to help the residents at the nursing home.

Survivors include two sons, Jim Shields and wife, Patsy, of Boerne, Texas, and Tom Shields and wife, Ann, of Lamar; one daughter, Gail Day and husband, Tom, of Lamar; two sister-in-laws, Doris Shulse and Gula Shulse; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one adopted family, Jack and Pat White and family. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; four brothers; five sisters; one daughter; and one step-granddaughter.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 9, at the Lamar United Methodist Church with Dr. Barry Winders officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens, Lamar, Mo. Visitation was Friday, April 8, from 7-8 p.m., at Konantz-Warden Funeral Home Chapel, Lamar, Mo.
