Tri-County Genealogy: Speaker to discuss finding Civil War ancestors

An expert in Civil War research will present infomation on how to find Civil War-era ancestors in Tri-County Genealogy meeting, set for 10 a.m., April 19, at the Church of Christ Fellowship Hall, 302 East Hospital Road in El Dorado Springs.

Speaker Gary Ayres is a 13th-generation American of Scottish, French and Swedish descent, and Past Commander of the Col. John T. Coffee Camp No. 1934 Missouri Sons of Confederate Veterans. The Col. John T. Coffee Camp is the largest and most active SCV camp in Missouri, dedicated to preserving the memory, principles and deeds of Missouri ancestors, in particular, and our Southern ancestors in general.

Ayers is involved in educational efforts in schools, replacing new Missouri Confederate soldier memorials, public speaking, writing articles about the Civil War, re-enactments and participating in community efforts and heritage defense in preserving Missouri's past and enriching its future.

The meeting is free and open to the public.
