Tigers moving to south sideline for '11 football season
Nevada Daily Mail
The Nevada High School football team will be moving to the south sideline at Logan Field for all home games this season, NHS Athletic Director Kevin McKinley has announced.
McKinley said the change will benefit the players and the coaching staff in a number of ways. There is 36 feet of sideline space on the south side, as opposed to 12 feet on the north side. An increase in room allows for:
-- Greater ease in treating less severe sideline injuries;
-- In the event of a more serious Nevada athlete injury, the Nevada staff is closer to the fieldhouse locker room medical training area;
-- Increased possibility for special team warm-up (punter and kicker nets) and an increase in ease of communication between on-field athletes and the coaching staff. Also, each team is closer to their pregame and halftime locker rooms.
"Tiger fans are welcome to stay on the north side or move to the south bleachers...that is up to their preference," McKinley stated.
The far-east end of the north stands will be denoted as a visitors section with the visiting cheerleaders also occupying the east end of the north sideline.
The football team will open the season on Friday night against Warrensburg. Look for more on the team later this week.
