Ruth Baynes -- 100 years

Ruth (Carter) Baynes, of Nevada, Mo., will celebrate her 100th birthday, Sept. 2, 2011. A card shower for her is planned as she would enjoy hearing from anyone who knew her down through the years. She will be honored with a family birthday celebration.

She was born in Hartville, Mo., and is the only surviving sibling of nine children. She was married to Ray Baynes for 47 years before his death in 1980.

Mrs. Baynes retired, after 25 years, as an LPN from the Nevada State Hospital in 1976. Her hobbies included quilting, crocheting and gardening. She is a long-time member of the Nevada Church of the Nazarene.

She has two children, Richard Baynes of the home; and Kay Coiner and husband, Larry, of Neosho, Mo. She has two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
