Council to consider sidewalk easement

Tuesday, October 18, 2011

The Nevada City Council will hold the first reading of a special ordinance to accept a three-year COPS Hiring Grant of about $140,000. The grant will pay for the city to employ a police officer for three years, with the caveat that the city will continue to employ the officer for a fourth year at the city's expense.

The council also will be considering the first reading of ordinances to accept the right-of-way easement at 429 N. Ash to facilitate the construction of a sidewalk from the community center to the high school and to change the zoning on property at 721 N. Ash from R-1, single family to R-3, apartment house.

Other new items on the agenda include the appointment of Brian Breckenridge as the city's personnel hearing officer, a bid for a pump for lift station No. 1, an emergency shelter grant for the Moss House and a solicitors license for the traveled portion of the road right-of-way for Jeff Taylor of The Windriders Motorcycle Organization.

In addition to these new items, the council will be holding the second readings of three ordinances.

First an agreement with the Western Missouri 9-1-1 board of directors for shared MULES service.

Second, a change to the city's contract with CDL Electric for lighting improvements at the U.S. Highway 71 and Highway K intersection.

Third, a settlement agreement to allow Jim and Ronda Hardin to continue farming property at the city's closed landfill.
