NEVADA -- Missed opportunities.

Those are the words Wes Beachler uses to describe last Friday's 28-7 loss at Pleasant Hill in the first district game of the season.

The Tigers had chances throughout the contest, but could only put seven points on the board.

"The thing that jumps out to me offensively is missed opportunities," Beachler said. "We had the ball inside their 25 at least three times where we either had a penalty that backed us up or we just couldn't convert on third down. We just had a lot of missed opportunities on offense. Plays we'd been making the previous five weeks we didn't make (on Friday)."

On the other side of the ball, the Roosters did just enough against the Tigers defense. The game was tied at seven in the second quarter, but Pleasant Hill scored 21 unanswered points to earn the win.

"We had a lot of missed assignments," Beachler said. "We didn't play like we're coached to play. We need to get back to what we've done the previous five weeks."

The Tigers are now 0-1 in district play with two games to go.

The top two teams in the district advance to the playoffs, so Nevada still has a lot to play for.

"A district championship is not very likely now," Beachler said. "But we still have a shot at the playoffs. And that's what we're playing for."

Nevada (5-3) hosts Clinton on Friday night at Logan Field in the second district game of the year.

Clinton defeated Holden 35-24 last Friday.

Beachler said his team is getting back to work this week, with overall improvement in mind.

"We didn't get better last Friday night," Beachler said. "So we need to get back to the fundamentals and the players need to get back to playing the way they did the previous five weeks. And we need to get back to coaching the way we're supposed to coach."
