Rich Hill man who sought to kill officials gets four years

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- A Rich Hill man has been sentenced to four years in prison following accusations that he tried to obtain a gun to kill public officials.

Attorney General Chris Koster said Thursday that 53-year-old Mike Maushake, of Rich Hill, was sentenced after pleading guilty to two counts of attempted tampering with a judicial officer and one count of attempted tampering with a witness.

The attorney general said Maushake sought a firearm to kill a Bates County judge and prosecutor and a Rich Hill marshal. All three officials were involved in a case against Maushake's wife for felony drug possession.

How can someone NOT obtain a gun in this country? guess it just shows you can not fix stupid.

1. Have a felony on your record

2. Try to obtain one legally

3. Buy from a reputable dealer that goes by the law

If you have item 1 then item 2 and 3 apply.

You are talking about obtaining a gun legally, you can buy from an individual, go to an auction, go to a gun show all legal ways of purchasing a gun with little oversight. If you want to obtain a gun illegally there are numerous ways around the law.

You must assume that everyone is going to follow the rule of law. Guess that show that the 2nd sentence applies to you. Thanks !!!!!!

I was just answering your question on how to NOT obtain a gun. Just trying to answer you on your question. I guess you are right about the second line, I for one would not want to have a gun from the sources you have mentioned. I prefer to touch bases on the rule of law, so I guess I can't be fixed for wanting to do go by the book. I still prefer to deal with a reputable dealer. Thanks for your pleasant response, while UN-swaying I have been somewhat enlightened by your seemingly great knowledge of how to work around the system.
